95 Driver Installation Instructions
for the KX-P6100/6500 Laser Printers
After the files have been downloaded, follow this procedure to create
floppy disks.
1. You will need a formatted disk (l.44HD) for each compressed file that
you have downloaded [two disks for the Windows drivers and a third disk
if you want the *DOS Control Panel (*for 6500 only)].
2. Create New Folder: Click on NEW from the FILE drop-down menu, then
click on FOLDER. Type DISK1, press ENTER, then repeat the procedure for
Disk2.
3. Dragging the Contents to the New Folder: While holding down the CTRL
key, click and hold the mouse button on the downloaded file, then drag the
first compressed file (6000-l.exe) to the DISK1 folder. Next, drag the second
compressed file (6000-2.exe) to the DISK2 folder.
4. Verifying That the Files Have Been Moved: Double-click on the DISK1
folder. The 6000-1.exe file name is displayed. Repeat the procedure for
the DISK2 folder, verifying that the 6000-2.exe file is displayed. If either
file is not displayed, repeat step three. If a shortcut file is displayed,
delete the shortcut, then repeat step three.
5. Decompressing Files: Double-click on the 6000-1.exe file in the DISK1
folder. Thirty-five files will be created. Repeat this step for the 6000-2.exe
file in the DISK2 folder, which will create 26 files.
6. Creating Floppy Disks: With the DISK1 folder open, click on the EDIT
menu, then click SELECT ALL files (the original compressed 6000-1.exe file
will remain in the Disk1 folder). Deselect the original uncompressed file
by holding down CTRL and clicking the file (the highlight will disappear
from the file).
7. Copy the Selected Files to the Floppy Drive: Click the FILE menu,
then SEND TO. Next, click on 3 1/2 FLOPPY (A) or (B), depending on your
drive letter. Label the floppy disk 6000DISK1 and place it in the drive.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for DISK2. Remember to deselect the 6000-2.exe
file and label the disk 6000DISK2.
NOTE
The following Windows 95 message may appear when installing the files: A
LATER VERSION OF ICON.DLL HAS BEEN FOUND. DO YOU WANT SETUP TO REPLACE IT?
This usually indicates that a newer file has been found, but not in this
case. Answer YES to all prompts to replace with the new file.
WARNING
If a prompt to install the Windows 95 CD-ROM is displayed when using the
Plug and Play method, ensure that the 6000Disk1 is in the floppy drive and
that the drive letter is correct. |
